A RiscPC for £100 |
CJE Micro's of Worthing are doing something amazing. They are offering a programmer the chance to buy a RiscPC for a hundred pounds. I am not exactly sure of the motive behind this offer, but my feeling is that Chris Evans recognises that a platform needs software, and there are many of us coders using old technology. Currently, my most advanced machine is an A5000.
We have a quantity of RiscPCs that allow us to make a special offer open to programmers. RiscPC 610 + RISC OS3.60 + 16MB + 1MB vram + HD for 100ukp +VAT +carriage.
The only caveat is that you have to prove that you are a programmer. I guess this is open to interpretation. I told him a little about my projects, and referred him to this part of my website, and to the downloadable software. He seemed happy with that.
Okay, the machine will cost you...
They'll provide extras at a good price, such as CD-ROM drives and PC co-processors. Ask when ordering.
The specification:
RiscPC 610
Obviously, when I take delivery of the machine in early November (don't worry, CJE will give you good service - my delay is that I'm going over to France...again!) then this site will be expanded to cover newer technology, and I'll see about some tried and tested 32bit ARM code. Not to mention finally having a machine to stick ARM Linux on!
